Vineyard Planted in 1971, Lafond Vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in Santa Barbara County and has the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Santa Rita Hills. To say we love this vineyard would be an understatement—Sara and I got married at Lafond. As a winemaker, I have had the pleasure of working with Lafond’s grapes for years. The sections of Lafond that we work with feature east/west-facing rows that rest on a hillside plateau, just above the Santa Ynez River.

Winemaking

This wine was fermented cold and slowly to preserve the expression of the fruit. Throughout the winemaking process, my goal was to remain as true to the varietal and vineyard as possible. After being inoculated with DV 10 yeast, no adjustments were made and no malolactic fermentation took place. In order to preserve the wine’s fresh aromatics and crisp structure, it was aged entirely in stainless steel before being bottled in the Spring of 2023.
